I Wish I Knew This When I Started My Business

Owning a business can be a lot - and if you’re running a farm X that by 1000! With so many unforeseen circumstances like weather, increasing operating costs, and bird flu, just to name a few. You’ve got a lot on your plate.

And while it can be overwhelming, here are some things I try to remember:

  1. You don’t have to be good at everything

I’ve finally learned to take the pressure off of myself. If I don’t like doing something or I don’t want or have the time to learn everything about it - I hire someone to do it for me. Not only does this save me time, but also my mental energy which is sometimes more important.

2. Take a break when it feels like too much

Yes, I said it. I know you work 5 - 9 (and more) but you’ve got to know your limits too. There comes a point with everyone that you have to know when it’s time to take a break - and that’s okay!  We are humans - not machines and we weren’t meant to burn the candle at both ends forever.

3. Things change - deal with it

If something is no longer working, change it. The number of times I’ve revamped my software or a process because it was no longer serving me could be a scroll. And I don’t feel bad about it. I am allowed to change my mind until things feel right and I’ve created a process that works.

Your business is yours and it doesn’t have to be a cookie cut of someone else’s. You do you and create something that works the way you want it to.

Each farm's needs are different and there truly are many different options. If you are curious about what I do or how we can work together, check out my website here or book a complimentary consultation HERE
